Unfurling in the glass with aromas of ripe cherries, plums, forest floor and spice that are delicately framed by a deft touch of toasty new oak, the 2017 Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru is full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with a layered and voluminous core, ripe acids, powdery tannins and a long, expansive finish. This is an open-knit but broad-shouldered Clos du Roi that will drink well with minimal bottle age. It's one of the highlights of Olivier Leflaive's red portfolio this year.
