The 2022 Pommard 1er Cru Clos de la Commaraine Monopole wafts from the glass with aromas of dark berries, spices and licorice framed by toasty new oak. Medium to full-bodied, layered and fleshy, with an elegantly muscular chassis of sweet, powdery tannins and a long, expansive finish, it shows more depth and density than this new winery's debut efforts did.

The 2022 Pommard Clos de la Commaraine 1er Cru is the monopole of the new Domaine that lies directly behind the luxury hotel that is currently under construction. The perfumed bouquet brings pressed violet and mainly black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with black fruit and a nagging herbaceous note underneath. It is very structured in the mouth and slightly powdery towards the finish with an off-dry finish. It's missing a bit of charm and precision at the moment, though it does cohere in the glass.
