From Alex Gambal’s former vineyards, the 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet La Maltroie 1er Cru has a gentle, lilting bouquet with orange pith and light citrus scents. The palate is composed and well balanced, quite taut with a fresh, saline finish. Maybe just a little more length on the aftertaste would not have gone amiss, but otherwise, this should drink well over the next decade.
