Tasting Notes and Scores

Summer marked the end of the worries (frost, millerandage, coulure) and propelled the Champagne region towards harvest. The Chardonnay was picked on 4 September and the Pinot Noir on 12 September. It was a warm vintage of relatively low yields. This shows notes of lime flowers, lemon pulp, strawberry and apple, supported by crisp acidity and leading to a yellow grapefruit finish with toasted bread and smokiness.

Picked 13 September. Disgorged 2008. Not an RD. TA 7.6 g/l, pH 3.08, >3 bars. Savoury nose, dense with mushrooms. Smells just like veal aux morilles. Pure mature Bolly! (JR)
