Tasting Notes and Scores
A positively spectacular nose that is now fully mature and quite yeasty with real breadth and depth leads to rich, fresh, sweet and intense flavors that also seems to have loads of barely concealed reserves of power and depth, finally explode on the hugely persistent finish. I’ve had better Champagnes but not many and this is a seriously impressive effort that can be drunk now or held for years to come.

The 1989 Krug was explosive on the nose and full-bodied on the palate where it offered a racy, almost wild expression of sweet, ripe fruit.

Rich, lush aromas of dried fruit and citrus marmalade, this is Champagne at its most opulent. Honeyed and round on the palate, with fine acidity keeping it focused. Gorgeous now, yet will age well.--Krug vertical. Drink now through 2015
Wine Spectator
A most voluptuous, honey-saturated Krug. Already richly evolved. Butterscotchy, with a long aftertaste. Less classical than the '88, but just as good for the moment.

Vinous, minerally nose dominated by toffee and apple. Mouthfilling, quite dry and very intensely flavored, with penetrating yet harmonious acidity. Offers the exotic fruit quality of the vintage but has the minerally, steely spine to handle the very ripe flavors. Very long and firm. Impressively fine for the year. Krug released this wine before the '88.
