Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2004 Blanc de Blancs has developed notable aromatic complexity and nuance over the last few years. Smoke, slate, candied lemon and crushed rocks are some of the signatures. Striking in its precision and nuance, the 2004 is once again absolutely brilliant. Simply put, the 2004 is a phenomenal Delamotte that shows just how compelling this vintage is in the Côte des Blancs.

Pale yellow-gold. High-pitched aromas of pear, lemon curd, honeysuckle and smoky minerals, complicated by suave notes of toasty lees and honey. Dry, densely packed and focused, offering spicy citrus and orchard fruit flavors complemented by sexy floral and gingery nuances. The leesy quality comes back strong on an extremely persistent finish featuring building spiciness.

Eight years on lees. Toasty, saline, rich and developed. Lots of flinty mineral character and quite an austere sort of smokiness. Broad, expressive, serious. (RH)

Smells a little reductive – smoky/rubbery. Tight and fresh with moderate depth in the middle and very finely balanced. Very determined mousse still. Shows the house-style finesse. (JH)
