The 2006 Extra-Brut Mareuil-sur-Aÿ has aged better than the Aÿ version, also in this tasting. This blend, taken from three plots in Mareuil, is terrific. Dried pear, lemon confit, kirsch, dried flowers, ginger, dried herbs and light tropical accents are some of the many nuances that open in the glass. There’s terrific creaminess and texture to play off all of the exoticism here. Readers who enjoy Champagne with some maturity will adore this. Dosage is 4.5 grams per liter.
