Tasting Notes and Scores

90.0 ST

From a five-year-old barrel: Good deep red. Chocolate, raspberry and spice on the nose. Fat, sweet and superripe; in a softer, accessible style. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins. From a new barrel: Good full red. Tougher and more dominated by its structure in the middle palate, but also displays compelling sweetness and rather easygoing tannins.

17.0 JR

80% Cabernet. Much paler red. Less concentrated and more open than the 1998. Fruity, round, supple. The terroir is evident and there are hints of the southern Rhône. This is extremely gentle with lovely ripe tannins – quite a transformation from previous vintages. (JR)
