Tasting Notes and Scores
A blend of 26% Syrah, 24% Grenache, 18% Rolle (Vermentino), 15% Mourvèdre, 12% Cinsault and 5% Tibouren, this estate, located on the island of Porquerolles, has turned out an impressive 2020 Cotes de Provence Rose Porquerolles. Unusually concentrated, it delivers aromas of crushed stone, strawberry, lime and sea spray. It's medium-bodied and slightly creamy in feel, with a dry, refreshing finish.

See details given for the white version; both in clear-glass burgundy bottles weighing 1,315 g. The rosé is a blend of 26% Syrah, 24% Grenache, 18% Rolle, 15% Mourvèdre, 12% Cinsault and 5% of the Provence speciality Tibouren. Picked between 19 August and 2 September. Terroir is described as, 'Shale source rock, clay. Dry climate moderated by the marine influence, mistral and dew, even in summer.' Pale salmon pink, not quite as pale as what has become the provençal norm. Again, dissolved gas, not that much nose and so far pretty unevolved. A bit more interest and fruit on this pink one though, with a definite saline note and some real interest. Satin-smooth texture and quite a bit of acidity with a little agreeable bite on the finish. There's a light smokiness and well-balanced fruit. Finishes dry but the fruit builds toward the end. (JR)
