Tasting Notes and Scores
The 1990 La Sizeranne, made from yields of 28 hectoliters per hectare, has begun to close up. The color is a dark purple, and with coaxing, the super ripe nose of cassis, licorice, minerals, and spices has begun to emerge. This full-bodied, tannic wine was aged in 60% new oak casks. It possesses copious quantities of black fruit flavors, a chewy texture, and very fine length. I suspect this wine needs until the turn of the century to approach maturity. It should last for 25-30 years.

Deeper, less orange colour than the 1991 and more concentrated with a firmer presence of tannin. Even slightly dry on the end but still a substantial wine. Very clean and fresh. No need to warm this up from cellar cool. Should be great with grouse tonight. Just a little bit of very fine sediment in the bottom of the bottle. (JR)
