Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Mourre des Perdrix was scheduled to be bottled two days after my visit, so the sample was drawn from the final blend. Although I expect it will close down a bit after bottling, it was singing when I tasted it, featuring red raspberries and cherries, floral and spice notes and a plump, velvety texture. Just delicious stuff.

69% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre, 15% Syrah, 1% Cinsault. Cask sample. Rich, jammy fruit with sweet oak influence and chewy, fine tannin. Excellent fruit purity – cherry and raspberry. Mercifully soft tannin, enough acid to refresh the finish and inevitably warm alcohol. (RH)
