Inky ruby. Sharply delineated dark fruit, exotic spice, floral, olive paste, smoked meat and vanilla qualities on the hugely perfumed nose. Coats the palate with deep, densely packed blueberry, cherry liqueur, fruitcake, olive paste and violet pastille flavors that convey a suave blend of richness and energy. The floral and mineral notes carry emphatically through an impressively long, youthfully tannic finish that shows superb clarity and spicy lift. 50% new oak.

As typical of the style here, Courbis's 2018 Cornas les Eygats is full-bodied and plush. It's even a bit warm, with chocolate and roasted meat notes, yet it remains vibrant and lively on the palate and through the long, mouthwatering finish.
