The 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee du Quet is built for the long haul. The aromatic profile is precise, offering notes of kirsch liqueur, creme de cassis, balsam wood, and a hint of resin. A dense ruby/purple color is accompanied by big, thick, rich fruit flavors and moderately high tannin, giving the wine a structured, delineated, powerful feel. This classic Chateauneuf du Pape is meant to be cellared. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2020.
