Le Vieux Donjon is one of Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s reference point estates, producing just the one red and one white wine from 18 hectares of vines from the region’s top terroirs. If you want classically styled, pitch-perfect Châteauneuf that is never overworked or too opulent then look no further. Rhône critic, John Livingstone-Learmonth writes, "If seeking The Real Thing at Châteauneuf-du-Pape, where the Grenache is quite rightly seasoned with other varietal influences, and where the land is allowed to speak, I would highly recommend Le Vieux Donjon to anyone`s cellar." Grenache always leads the way here, and in the glorious 2022 vintage, it makes up 75% of the blend, supported by 10% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre, and 5% Cinsault. The result is a wine that speaks clearly of place and vintage, full of energy, purity, and finesse.
