Tasting Notes and Scores
One of the finest whites from the region that’s from a newly purchased seven-hectare vineyard, the 2015 Collioure Chrysopée Blanc is a blend of 90% Grenache Gris and 10% Grenache Blanc that was raised all in demi-muids, one-third each being new, once-used and twice-used barrels. Its light gold color is followed by fabulous minerality and saline-like aromas intermixed with more classic apple, quince and iodine characteristics. These flow to a rich, medium to full-bodied white that has good acidity, building texture and a great finish. Coming all from a hillside plot facing the ocean, this is a terrific Collioure that readers shouldn’t miss.
