Ripe pear, apple and honeydew melon are headily garlanded in honeysuckle, lily-of-the-valley and mint. The palate impression is lusciously fruity and subtly creamy, presenting an airy combination of alcoholic levity with floral perfume. The buoyant, bell-clear, seductively lingering finish is soothing, but features a welcome light tingle of fresh, zesty lemon. (There is also an auctioned bottling of Sonnenuhr Spätlese – A.P. #19 – which I have not tasted.)

Oranges, almost marmalade peel on the nose. Bit of smoke, but just a faint trail. Intense, nervous, fingernails pressed white with tension. And then pebbles dipped in peach juice. Both hard and soft, tightly wired and free – a compelling, teasing ambiguity. (TC)
