Tasting Notes and Scores
To be released in September this year, the 2020 Sankt Nikolaus Riesling trocken GG opens with an intense but refined and finely flinty nose of ripe and juicy lemons and crisp grapes seasoned with spicy notes of weathered stone plates. Pure, enormously vital and vibrant on the palate, this is a salty, crunchy and youthful, beautifully fresh and promising Sankt Nikolaus that could develop to a twin of the 2019. The finish is a bit richer at this early stage and the wine is more nervous and not as round, but that's a question of time. Tasted in April 2022 from the tank that was ready to be bottled the next day.

AP number 07 22. Lower, on the Rhine bench and mostly loess soils. Certified organic and biodynamic (Demeter). Lightly honeyed citrus. Richer and deeper in citrus and apricot fruit but still with excellent mineral elegance. A restrained beauty and ageing so slowly. (JH)

AP number 07 22. Certified organic and biodynamic (Demeter). Very high toned and pretty edgy, with notes of lime. Quite demanding still! Crystalline. But clearly destined for great things. (JR)
