Tasting Notes and Scores
From golden-yellow (not pink) grapes that were slightly shriveled at 100° Oechsle and lost 30% of water, the lemon-yellow colored 2018 Kiedrich Gräfenberg Auslese opens with a fascinating, clear, piquant and spicy bouquet with lemon zest aromas. Lush and generous but incredibly precise and elegant on the palate, with truly fresh and piquant fruit and concentration with minty notes on the finish, this is a very fresh and salty Auslese with eternal aging potential. This is marvelous and even a step above the Spätlese. There were 3,300 liters produced. Tasted in August 2019.

This is more restrained in aroma than the corresponding Turmberg. Quince preserves and candied lemon peel are accompanied by subtle suggestions of sea breeze and flowers. Inner-mouth, the impression is downright opulent: glossy in feel, richly fruited and profusely floral. Salted butter cream, quince jelly, peach jam and candied lemon peel are prominent. Mouthwateringly saline and otherwise savory mineral notes more than merely cut the sweetness on a finish of impressive length.
