When I tasted this beauty back in April with our Sales Director, we didn’t need to say anything, we just looked at each other with wide eyes. We had worked through a whole line-up of delicious Cannonau (aka Grenache) from Sardinia, but this was the wine which instantly and irrevocably grabbed our attention. It is everything we love in “new-wave” Grenache – perfumed, ethereal, with fine but structured tannins, and an elegant, vividly fresh, and mineral finish. If you’ve never had a Sardinian Cannonau (!), this is the only place to start. Federica Dessolis is the young woman behind this dazzling wine – having trained in Burgundy and Châteauneuf-du-Pape (at DRC and Domaine Marcoux), she is back home working with these old family vines in the Garaunele District in Mamoiada. Watch this space – a rising star in our view!
