Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2013 Barolo Brea Vigna Ca' Mia captures the essence of this striking hillside site. A host of lavender, violet, menthol, licorice and tar notes open up first. Wonderfully translucent and yet powerful, the 2013 bristles with energy and pure class. Here, too, the tannins are remarkably polished for a young Serralunga Barolo. Dense, dark and powerful, with nearly buried tannins, the 2013 Ca' Mia is a superb wine with a very bright future.

Entirely owned by the Brovia family, the Brea cru in Serralunga d'Alba is a mixture of clay and sand with significant limestone. The oldest vines, over 60 years old, are selected for the Vigna Ca' Mia, while the younger ones are blended in their excellent classic Barolo. Mint, star-anise and wild forest strawberries surge from the glass in this powerful but beautifully textured, refined, mineral-driven and captivating wine. The vineyard is certified organic as of 2013.

The 2013 Barolo Brea Vigna Ca' Mia offers beautiful dimension and depth with a slightly more robust or powerful approach. The fruit is carefully ripened to show dark plum and blackberry nuances. Delicate notes of spice, tar and tobacco give substance and length to the palate.
