Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2006 Barolo Vigneto Cannubi impresses for its silky tannins and finessed, feminine personality, with more density and textural richness than the Monvigliero. Berries, crushed flowers and spices are some of the nuances that emerge from this finely-knit, classy Barolo. Despite being open and very pleasurable today, the Cannubi needs at least several years in bottle to develop the full range of its aromas and flavors. When that happens, it should be a totally sublime Barolo. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2026. This is a compelling set of new wines from Burlotto. Readers who appreciate mid-weight, classically built Baroli will find much to look forward to. Importer: The Rare Wine Co., Sonoma, CA; tel. (707) 996-4484

Barolo. Medium ruby getting lighter on the rim. Balsamic, with hints of spice and the merest suggestion of cacao. Palate is slightly let done by rich, sweet monolithic fruit. Quite soft acidity. (WS)
