Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2004 Barolo Pajana is the most approachable of Clerico's 2004s today. Dark, rich and sumptuous, the 2004 hits the palate with all of the exuberance and power that is typical of this site. Although quite fleshy and supple on the palate, the 2004 remains primary and youthful. With some air, the 2004 is beautifully expressive today, but it can also be cellared for another decade or more.

Aromas of blackberry, plum skin and hints of cut wood. Full-bodied, chewy and very rich, with lots of tannins, French oak and fruit. This is dense and concentrated. Layered. Needs time. Best after 2012. 680 cases made. â JS
Wine Spectator
Clerico's 2004 Barolo Pajana is an explosive wine loaded with layers of deeply spiced dark fruit. It is a notably pure, focused version of this wine that is totally compelling for its overall balance. The south-facing Pajana vineyard tends to give a more fruit-driven style of Barolo but the 2004 is a beautifully complete wine. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2024.
