Tasting Notes and Scores

92 ST

Good bright medium red. Ripe strawberry, flowers and exotic white fruits on the inviting nose and palate. A fresh, tightly wound midweight with excellent intensity and purity of fruit. Finishes with serious, firm-edged tannins and terrific fruit persistence.

Lightish cherry with some brick. Rich, ripe, spicy fruit. Really cherry fruited. Plenty of oak on the palate, giving it something of a bordeaux layer over the barolo – though apparently he uses only big oak. But the texture and finesse of the tannins are more Piemonte. Paper-fine texture. All a bit tied up at the moment. (JH)
