Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2008 Barolo Riserva Ca'd' Morissio is precise, lifted and intensely aromatic, with all the grace and inner perfume that is often found in this compelling Barolo vintage. Sweet dark cherries, lavender, dried herbs and licorice are all laced together in a delicate Barolo long on nuance and subtlety. The 2008 Monprivato took a few years to blossom. I imagine that will be the case here as well, as the Ca' d'Morissio is very closed today.

This stunning wine is all about extreme elegance and subtlety. It opens with aromas of wild red berry, rose petal, sweet baking spice and a whiff aromatic herb while the focused palate delivers red cherry, crushed raspberry, licorice, pipe tobacco and white pepper. A firm backbone of polished tannins and vibrant acidity gives it an age-worthy structure. It's loaded with finesse and should develop even more complexity over time. Drink 2018â2033. - Kerin O'Keefe

This is the current vintage on the market now. The 2008 Barolo Riserva Monprivato CÃ d'Morissio is a polished and expressive creation that has inched slowly along its aging trajectory in the many years that have passed since the harvest. The wine has one foot in the realm of primary aromas with dark fruit and dried plum. The other foot has already moved toward tertiary tones of campfire ash, licorice, road paving and perfumed white truffle. The effects of oxygen have started their magic on this well-built and solid wine. The long finish ends with dryness and austerity. ML
