Mauro Mascarello's 1978 Barolo Villero is simply stunning. Deep, dark and remarkably powerful for a wine of its age, the Villero captures the magic of the 1978 vintage. A glorious Indian summer saved what was shaping up to be a dreary vintage. The 1978s are dark, massively tannic and built for the ages. Mascarello's Villero captures the somewhat monolithic personality of the vintage. This bottle is in great shape. What a wine! November 2015
