Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2010 Barolo Cannubi is a drop-dead gorgeous beauty. Freshly cut flowers, mint, spices, new leather and violets all waft from the glass in a refined, impeccable Barolo loaded with class. The 2010 is all about delicacy, finesse and elegance. Sweet, floral and impeccable in its balance, the 2010 is striking from start to finish. This is pure sensuality.

A soft and sexy red with plum and berry character. Very aromatic. Full body, with round tannins and a fresh finish. Lovely texture. Better in 2016.

The 2010 Barolo Cannubi is the “timid” wine of the bunch with subtle mint tones backed by flowers, licorice stick and a touch of distant cinnamon. It shows distinct mineral nuances from the silky, sandy soils that characterize the highest part of the single vineyard. It has southern exposures, but thanks to underground water supplies, older vines with deep root systems never suffer from heat stress. The finish is silky and clean with a touch of dried mint that is a trademark characteristic of this cru. Drink: 2017-2030. ML

(14.7% alcohol with 6.0 grams of acidity; bottled the week before my visit): Good full, dark red. Lovely floral perfume to the tangy red cherry aroma; I might have picked this as Burgundy from the nose. Juicy, intense and sharply delineated, with compelling inner-mouth perfume to the flavors of red cherry, raspberry and rose petal. Finishes juicy and tight but seamless, with silky tannins and lovely lift. Very 2010 in its razor-sharp precision and penetrating length. Little obvious sign of oak here, which is all to the good.
Wine Independent
There's plenty of cherry fruit here, along with licorice and spice flavors. Tightly wound and dense, with finely grained tannins, this is balanced overall and comes together on the finish. Best from 2017 through 2035. 800 cases made, 300 cases imported. — BS
Wine Spectator
Seductive, almost too easy going with hints of sweet oak mingling with ripe fruit. Equally seductive on the palate. Modernist approach, but so skilled! Wonderful gripping tannins and long succulent sweet-fruited finish.
