The 2004 Barbaresco Riserva Asili is an uber-classic wine from the Produttori. All the Asili signatures are there; the soaring aromatics, precise flavors and silky, sculpted tannins. White pepper, cranberry, red berries and mint give the Asili much of its brightness. Readers who can hold off a few years will be rewarded with an utterly exquisite Barbaresco. Truth is, the 2004 is pretty special, even today.

Good deep red. Pretty, floral aromas of berries, rose petal and tar. Suave, sweet and clean, with juicy acidity contributing to the wine's sappy character. Very tasty.
