The 2017 Barolo Pira is a powerful, intensely savory wine. Dark cherry, herbs, leather incense and licorice all add to an impression. The Pira Barolo is one of the most reticent wines in this entire collection. It is hard to read today, despite its obvious weight and character. Oct 2022

Limpid bright pale red with a garnet cast. Perunmed, vibrant aromas and flavours of raspberry, strawberry, tangerine peel and lemon ice, all lifted by a violet topnote. This Barolo Pira is not just elegant but also powerful. Pira is a cru in Castiglione Falletto so the limestone content is higher, though witth plenty of blue-grey marl mixed in.
