Tasting Notes and Scores
Dark red cherries, spices, mint, licorice and incense emerge from the 2009 Barolo La Serra. Firm yet nicely integrated tannins add support in a Barolo that balances the ripeness of the year with excellent sense of structure. There is an attractive sense of energy here. Still, my preference is to drink the 2009 sooner rather than later.
Antonio Galloni
A rich, almost velvety texture envelops the cherry, plum, tobacco and briar flavors in this red. Finishes long and savory, with sweet fruit masking the density. Shows terrific balance and potential. Best from 2016 through 2032. BS
Wine Spectator
Readable and round. Juicy and fun. Lots of spicy fruit. Then the structure. Very long.
