Tasting Notes and Scores
Scavino's 1999 Barolo Carobric explodes from the glass with freshly cut flowers, sweet red berries, mint, licorice and sweet tobacco. Impeccable and layered, the 1999 impresses for its exceptional balance and pure sensuality. In magnum, the Carobric is still very, very young. Readers lucky enough to own it are in for a real treat. This is a dazzling, total mesmerizing Barolo from the Scavino family.
Antonio Galloni
On this day the 1999 Carobric enjoyed an especially strong showing, with captivating, well-delineated layers of flowers, menthol, cocoa and ripe dark fruit coating the palate in a powerful display of elegance and power. Still tightly coiled, this powerhouse, structured Barolo offers plenty of vintage 1999 character as well as style. It needs time in the cellar and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it still going strong at age 25. 92/Anticipated maturity: 2011-2019.
