Good deep red. Bright aromas of redcurrant, lead pencil, tobacco and charred oak. Sweet but reticent in the mouth; much less open today than the Bric Balin. Hint of truffle. Finishes with serious tannins that will require some bottle aging.

The 2000 Barbaresco Cole, from an underrated cru in the town of Barbaresco, is sweeter and riper in aroma, larger in dimension and structure than the Basarin, as well as ampler and rounder in texture and will drink well from 2005 to 2016.
