Pale to medium ruby-purple in color, the 2014 Burn Cottage Moonlight Race gives a great intensity of ripe red cherry, cranberry and black raspberry aromas with hints of violets, vanilla, anise and cinnamon stick. Medium-bodied, it fills the palate with expressive red berry and baking spice flavors, supported by velvety tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and spicy.

The 2014 Moonlight Race Pinot Noir has a high-toned red cherry and soy-tinged bouquet that feels a little one-dimensional. The palate is quite sweet and candied, with an almost Port-like undercurrent towards the finish. This is an odd Pinot Noir that feels just a little overbaked.

Grunty burgundian colour, somehow (crimson with a bit of grey). Herbal and spearmint on the nose. Sweet start and nicely managed tannins. Good edge and savour. Interesting. (JR)
