Tasting Notes and Scores
Marelise Niemann's aim is to "preserve the vibrancy and energy" in her Grenache, sourced from two adjacent vineyards on the Paardeberg. Fermented with an early picked, 30% whole bunch component, it's a floral, delicate yet focused number, with red cherry and pomegranate flavours, negligible wood and subtly garrigue aromas. 2024-29

The 2021 Grenache Noir comes from Paardeberg in Swartland, 30% whole bunches aged 16 months in 500-liter French oak and Stockinger barrels. It has a charming cherry liqueur and crushed strawberry-scented nose. The palate is soft and supple, just missing a bit of backbone towards the finish, but there is impressive volume and a sensual mouthfeel. Lovely. 2025-35
