Reyneke Reserve White 2020 is really starting to shine now (in 2023). Inspired by the flinty, mineral wines of Pouilly-Fumé, it is a 100% Sauvignon Blanc which is more about texture than aroma, with a creamy, leesy mouthfeel and beautiful weight. Aromas of blackcurrant leaf and whitecurrant lead to flavours of white peach, white grapefruit and wild sage notes on the palate, and - as ever with Reyneke wines - there is lots of zesty energy. Finishes long and saline. Definitely drink a few bottles this summer, but keep some back too, as this wine always ages wonderfully. [Tasted 2023]

The 2020 Biodynamic Reserve White is 100% Sauvignon Blanc from selected parcels, all whole bunch pressed, naturally settled with around 85% new oak (300-litre) barrels for around 10 months. It has an intense bouquet with Granny Smiths, Nashi pear and a touch of limestone, the oak discretely embroidered. The palate is well balanced with a little more weight than the regular Sauvignon Blanc, a fine line of acidity and nerve towards the finish. Give this a couple of years in bottle. Superb.
