The vines are mostly younger, producing a wine that's comparatively immediate, with a nice interplay between peach and green apple fruit and impressive brightness for a 2022 release. 2023-28”

Neal Martin: “The 2022 Hereafter Here is a mixture of young and old vines due to the higher yields this year, whole bunch pressed with 18 months élevage, two-thirds on the lees. The well-defined bouquet has yellow plum, orange blossom, Japanese yuzu and crushed stone aromas. The palate is very harmonious, with a crisp line of acidity. A linear, almost Zen-like razor-sharp Chenin displaying wonderful nerve on the finish. Superb. Drinking Window: 2024-2034”

5- to 35-year-old bush-vine Chenin: ‘We’re grooming vines for the future’, says Chris Albeit. Whole-bunch pressed, settled overnight, racked off the dirty solids, and then spontaneous fermentation in neutral vessels (cement eggs, foudres etc). Lovely intensity on the nose – classic Chenin. Masses of fruit leading the charge: apples, pears, papaya. But the fruit comes with a touch of cream and something a little toffee spicy, a little yogurt tangy and maple-syrup smoky. Rounded, pure, expressive and generously open. Silky and cardamom spicy finish. Just a baby with a long road ahead, but it would be difficult not to drink it now. (TC)

Empty bottle 612 g. Whole-bunch press and ambient-yeast fermentation in old barrels of various sizes for about 2 months. Aged on lees for around 12 months, then rested in tank on fine lees without fining for a further 6 months. Free SO 2 30 mg/l, total SO 2 80 mg/l. Vegan. Rich and very honeyed and Chenin. Exciting and sculpted. Just brilliant! Long, throbbing fruit. (JR)
