Tasting Notes and Scores
Part of the González Byass treasure house: a vintage 1975. A sensational wine; it bears its almost half century of age with a glorious confidence. Needs a thesaurus to describe it: mahogany, caramel, toasted apricots, roasted hazelnuts and almonds and more. Very long, beautifully balanced. Drinking Window: 2023-2074. [December 2023]
Decanter
Sarah Jane Evans MW
A single-vintage, aged amontillado with roasted hazelnuts, almonds and smoke-like aromas, reminiscent of incense. Burnt orange peel and hints of coffee, too. The palate is extraordinarily concentrated and profound with an intense attack, but it unfolds elegantly and seamlessly to a long and penetrating finish. The elegance of these aged wines at this address is truly unique. Bottled in March 2022. Drink now. [August 2024]
