Tasting Notes and Scores

96+ RP

There is a section of the El Reventón, the 2016 El Reventón RV, which is taken from a separate part of the vineyard, as it's really composed of two plots. This is the part of the vineyard that delivers a wine with more finesse that is closer to the character of Las Iruelas from a plot that has a southeast exposure, but gets a lot of shade and ripens up to 15 days later than the other. In a vintage when there is enough volume they might keep the two parts separate, as it happened in 2016 for the first time, and might be done again in 2018 (2017 yields were very low and there was not enough wine to keep the sections separate). This wine is a lot more austere, floral, fresh and spicy (white pepper), less Mediterranean and with great filigree on the palate. I think the main difference here is in texture. 700 bottles were filled in February 2018.
