Tasting Notes and Scores
Complex aromas of hazelnuts, dried flowers, dark fruits and stones. Subtle. Full-bodied, chewy and structured. Fills your mouth. An age-worthy wine that harkens back to the great Rioja of the 1940s and 1950s. Available in 2016.

Deep bright-rimmed ruby. A heady, expansive bouquet evokes fresh, mineral-accented red berries, cherry liqueur, vanilla and cedary oak, and a sexy floral nuance emerges with air. Silky and seamless on the palate, offering alluringly sweet, concentrated raspberry, cherry-vanilla, spicecake and floral pastille flavors that are given spine and focus by a core of juicy acidity. Rich yet energetic in style, displaying wonderful finishing clarity, fine-grained tannins and outstanding, floral-dominated persistence.

Telmo Rodriquez's first vintage on his own. Deep cherry red. Dark-red fruit and smells immediately much fresher and a lot more than a year younger than the 2009. The tannins are much, much finer, papery layers, and the fruit tastes fresher and with more energy. A notable change from the 2009, much fresher on the finish. (JH)
