Tasting Notes and Scores
The one red offering is the 2005 Fincas de Ganuza Reserva made up of 85% Tempranillo with the balance Graciano, Garnacha, and “other”. After 12 months of resting in tank, it was moved into barriques, 50% new, for another 25 months before bottling without fining or filtration. This dense purple-colored effort gives up aromas of pain grille, mineral, Asian spices, leather, and assorted black fruits. Big and structured on the palate in the style of the vintage, it will reward another 5-7 years of cellaring and deliver prime drinking from 2016 to 2025. Bodegas Fernando Remirez de Genuza ranks among the top half-dozen producers in Rioja. Fernando Remirez de Ganuza has been able to accomplish this by melding the best aspects of traditional and contemporary Rioja styles into his own unique expression. White wine is a new addition to the portfolio. Importer: Jorge Ordonez, Fine Estates From Spain, Dedham, MA; Tel. (781) 461-5767
