I love the wines from Jim Binn’s Andremily label, and the 2013 Andremily No 2 is an incredible effort that offers blockbuster styled aromatics with an elegant, seamless, silky style on the palate. Crème de cassis, jammy blackberries, ground pepper, and exotic lavender notes change beautifully in the glass, and while it’s going to be very long-lived, it’s already a joy to drink. Enjoy this blend of 85% Syrah, 11% Mourvèdre, and 4% Viognier anytime over the coming two decades or more.

The 2013 No. 2 is a very pretty wine, but it is also less tannic and less structured than most wines of the vintage. Inky blue and purplish fruit, menthol, spice and licorice are all fused together. This is an especially ripe, voluptuous 2013. While the 2013 is very appealing, I would have liked to see a bit more vintage character. On the plus side, though, the 2013 will drink well upon release, something that is quite rare in this vintage. The blend is 85% Syrah, 11% Mourvèdre and 4% Viognier.
