We have not tasted the 2013 Mascot yet - but our score is based on the quality of the vintage and the 96+pt score we gave the 2012, as below:

"Ink plum/purple color. The nose is pronounced with ripe blackberry and cassis fruit, layers of leather and spices coming through as well. There is both a lifted, floral character and a more earthy, fragrant forest floor element to it which will bring great presence and gravitas once the fruit settles down. The palate has got intense cassis, blackcurrant, but also ripe plums. Wonderful texture! The wine feels very soft and polished. Tannins are silky and well integrated. There is a wonderful warmth on the palate but enough acidity to allow it to age for another 20 years minimum. Those who love the initial burst of fruit of the Napa Valley will enjoy drinking it earlier though as it delivers huge pleasure already. At this price it is an amazing entry into Napa’s finest!"
