Tasting Notes and Scores
No 2011 was produced, but the 2012 Syrah Rodger’s Creek Vineyard includes 12% Viognier co-fermented with 88% Syrah. It displays terrific aromas of spring flowers, crème de cassis, blackberries, coffee and incense. Unctuously textured and dense with oodles of fruit and glycerin as well as a long, heady finish, this fabulous Syrah should drink well for a decade or more.

The 2012 Syrah Rodgers Creek Vineyard is the most delicate and refined of Ramey's 2012 Syrahs. Here the fruit is red-toned and quite pretty, with floral and spice overtones that add lift. Like all of the David Ramey's 2012 Syrahs, the Rodgers Creek emphasizes fruit over varietal notes, but there is a sense of inner perfume and overall grace that gives the wine an attractive sense of lift.

Glass-staining purple. Heady aromas of black and blue fruit preserves, licorice, Indian spices and woodsmoke, with a sexy floral nuance emerging with aeration. Sweet and expansive on the palate, offering intense, concentrated blueberry and cherry flavors that are given spine by juicy acidity. Clings with outstanding persistence and harmonious tannins, leaving smoke and bitter cherry notes behind.
