Tasting Notes and Scores
96pts Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com Previously called “Pinot Noir Hopewell Hills Gathered Stones,” the 2019 Pinot Noir Gathered Stones is the same wine, but the winery removed the longer name to distinguish it from the Hopewell Hills. Savory and resinous, the 2019 Pinot Noir Gathered Stones is spicy with toasted black pepper, savory forest herbs, and black cherry liqueur. Medium to full-bodied, it has balanced intensity, with ripe structure, an even spine of acidity, and a core of red fruit shining through its long finish. It offers wonderful purity and should prove to be a solid, age-worthy wine from Rose & Arrow. I tasted this last year, and it’s showing even better now. Drink 2024-2040. 137 cases produced.

The nose is perfumed – balsam wood, forest floor, volcanic gravel, dark cherry and a spicy, woodsy musk. Textured like linen and incredibly dry with mouth-watering acidity. Slight reduction – a volcanic pungency. This needs time to open. Black-walnut bitters and earth on the palate with a dash of celery salt. A long finish.
