Château d’Yquem Premier Cru Superieur 2022

Today sees the much-anticipated release of the spectacular 2022 Chateau d’Yquem at GBP 1500 per 6 IB

The fame and status of Chateau d’Yquem is not down to coincidence: the estate stands at the highest point of the appellation, in a steeply sloped position with a difference of 35 meters between the highest and lowest plots. Vine roots reach almost 10 metres deep in places on the clay covered limestone bedrock (assisted by over 50 miles of underground drainage fitted in the late 1800s) with a terroir uniquely suited to the growth of noble rot botrytis cinerea which lends the wine its unique character.

There is no doubting that 2022 sits rights up on the very top table amongst the pantheon of great Yquems and well deserving of a place in the best cellars around the globe. It comes highly recommended. *N.B. half-bottles of the 2022 will be bottled on demand and only available on release, the chateau having decided not to keep half bottles in long term storage.
