Vietti, Barolo Lazzarito, 2010

Latest Offers
Over the years Vietti has established itself as amongst the very finest estates in all of Piedmont, producing benchmark single vineyard Barolos. 2010, however, was a vintage like no other, and helped catapult Vietti from up and coming to fully arrived amongst the recognisable name of top table Barolo addresses.
“The 2010 Barolos will go down as some of the greatest wines ever made at this historic property. Now that they are in bottle, the 2010s are every bit as incredible as they have always been from barrel… Wine lovers will not want to miss Vietti's 2010s...they are stratospheric.” AG

The Lazzarito plot lies in the heart of Serralunga d’Alba, Barolo’s equivalent of Vosne Romanee, and at 1.7ha in size is one of the property’s more significant holdings. Reaching up to 380m above sea level, in a magical amphitheatre shaped south-west exposition, the vineyard has a limestone/clay soil rich in minerals and is planted with three different clones of old Nebbiolo vines: 50% Lampia (the most traditional type), 20% Rosé (known for giving perfumed Barolo) and 30% Michet (a naturally low-yielding clone that produces particularly intense Barolo – cf. Monprivato Ca’ d’Morissio).
Vietti’s Lazzarito is often remarkably elegant for a Barolo from Serralunga – yet in 2010 the level of intensity and depth is remarkable. After more than a decade in bottle it is enjoyable now with aeration and served from large glasses but there’s no doubt this Barolo’s very best days lie a few years in the future. We are delighted to offer a (in mature Barolo terms) large parcel of this superb Barolo – it comes highly recommended for both the impatient consumer and the dedicated collector.
