Revealing a deep purple-black color, the 2020 Poesia bursts with flamboyant notions of stewed black plums, mulberries and juicy blackberries, plus hints of tar, licorice, potpourri and dried mulberries with a waft of incense. The medium to full-bodied palate is charged with a racy backbone of freshness, delivering layers of dried berries and exotic spices with a plush texture, finishing long and perfumed.

Neal Martin

The 2020 Poesia has a pretty bouquet, a mixture of red and black fruit, fleeting cassis and iodine scents, open and willing to please. The oak here is nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins and a well-judged line of acidity. Velvety in texture and very harmonious, this is already an irresistible Poesia with a caressing, pure finish. It might well be the best vintage I have tasted from this Saint-Émilion Grand Cru. - vinous.com

(60% M, 40% CF; 14.5–15% ABV; 60% new)
That floral, wild-rose / herbal character of the Cabernet Franc to the fore; rich and full and fleshy, with a vital acidity and fine, slightly wood-dry tannin; long and ripe and lively to taste, with a clear complexity, a real tenacity and intensity of flavor, and excellent fragrant length. A very complete St-Emilion in its slightly oaky style. Will need a bit of time. Lovely in its way. A great success. 2028–40+.

James Suckling

Lots of blueberry and blackberry with crushed-stone and limestone undertones. It’s full-bodied with firm, silky tannins that are wonderfully polished.

Antonio Galloni

The Poesia is absolutely gorgeous in 2020. Bright, beautifully perfumed and elegant, it’s a total knockout. The energy and purity of the flavors is just remarkable. Sweet red cherry, red plum, tobacco, cedar, mint, mocha and dried flowers all meld together. Simply dazzling, and it may turn out to be the best vintage yet. That's pretty much all there is to it.

Jeff Leve

Deeply colored the wine is packed with nuances of flowers, licorice, wet earth, crushed rocks, plum, blackberry and dark cherries. On the palate the wine is lively, silky, rich, creamy, concentrated and mineral driven, with a beautiful salty character in the finish. The wine blends 70% Merlot with 30% Cabernet Franc, 14.5% ABV. 93-95

Another gorgeous wine from this talented team, the 2020 Château Poesia reveals a dense purple color as well as pure darker berry and cassis fruits. followed by classic Saint-Emilion chalky minerality, violets, and camphor. With medium to full-bodied richness, it has a seamless, sexy texture, notable underlying freshness and purity, and a great finish. This will be another hidden gem of a wine that will drink well in its youth yet also evolve for 20 years or more from cold cellars.

Same owners as Barde-Haut on slightly cooler clay-limestone soils, the tannins are a little angular, but there is a ton of liquorice, damson and violet notes. It is poised even though broad-shouldered. 60% new oak.
