The 2020 de Fieuzal Blanc gives up scents of lemon tart, fresh, crunchy pears and white grapefruit with hints of crushed rocks, coriander seed and white pepper. The medium-bodied palate is refreshing and elegantly styled with a quiet intensity of citrus and pear flavors and a chalky finish.
The 2020 Château de Fieuzal Blanc works much better than its red counterpart this year. It has a straightforward, clean nose of lime, orange pith and light touches of grapefruit. The palate is well balanced with a rounded entry, soft and supple, offering pure peach and apricot notes and fanning out nicely toward the quite luscious but focused finish. Drink over 8–12 years.
(60% SB, 40% SM; 13% ABV; 25% new)
Plump melon and guava to smell, with a subtle oak-vanilla; rich, fresh to lively rather than vital, but with a sufficient acidity nonetheless; plenty of matter, ample in proportions, generous in flavor, deep and vivid, a real sense of “sap” and with fine aromatic persistence. 2024–36.
A full-bodied white with dried-apple, pear and crushed-stone character, creamy texture and bright acidity. Riper style with tangy acidity at the end.
Full bottle 1,335 g. Cask sample 'prepared' 6 April. 75% Sauvignon, 25% Sémillon. No SO2 added. pH 3.3. Wine was aged for 12 months.
Nose still a bit indistinct. Good Sauvignon freshness. But at this stage it seems a little more varietal than bordelais. Simple for the moment.
Green apple, waxy lemon, grapefruit, flowers, orange rind and spice create a fabulous perfume. Lifted, bright and fruity, with loads of sweet yellow citrus in the creamy textured, finish, with a gentle hint of honeyed lemon in the endnote. 92
