There is a new blend simply called 2014 Lapostolle, which was first produced in small quantities in the 2013 vintage. It blends grape varieties and origins, as it has 28% Syrah from Cachapoal and then 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Carmenere from Apalta, 22% Merlot and a 2% touch of Cabernet Franc. This is close to the style of the Collection wines with moderate ripeness and alcohol. It's quite fruit-driven, with a polished palate and fine tannins. Very easy to drink. The classical label explains what the wine is: a classical blend. 100,000 bottles produced.

48% Carmenère, 31% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot. Vivid purple colour, dark chocolate and plum on the nose with rather too much extraction giving an overbearing texture and fruit intensity. It's impressive, but the loudness could soon become deafening. (RH)

An extremely aromatic and focused Clos Apalta with blackberry, blueberry, floral and hot stone character. Full body, very linear and ultra-fine tannins. Focused and tight. Precise and long.
