Tasting Notes and Scores

78 NM

Tasted at the Brane-Cantenac vertical at the château, the 1993 Brane-Cantenac has a light, leafy bouquet that just drifts away in the wind. The palate is medium-bodied with very light tannin, a simple Margaux that seems flat on the finish. It is a wine that has run out of ideas and seems to be on the downward slope. Tasted March 2016.

49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot and 18% Cabernet Franc. 52.1 hl/ha. Amber colour. More leafy and vegetal than the 1992, the acidity considerably marked. Short and jarring on the finish. Greener all round. Higher yield probably didn’t help. (JL)
