Tasting Notes and Scores
Hubert de Bouard takes his inspiration from the wines of Burgundy for his 2016 Le Chardonnay. A sheen of reduction adds complexity to the orchard fruit, lemon confit and floral notes. The 2016 was fermented in oak, with some lees stirring to add texture. De Bouard deftly balances freshness and textural density in this tasty, impressive first release.

The 2016 Le Chardonnay, which is aged 50% in new oak and 50% one-year-old, has a clean and fresh bouquet with touches of fresh pineapple and grapefruit. The palate is fresh on the entry with crisp acidity, well-integrated oak, plenty of citrus fruit towards the clean and precise finish. It might miss a little length, but it is a good easy-drinking Chardonnay.
